T37 para-athlete. Four-time Australian record holder. 18 years old.
I'm 18, a T37 para-athlete from Victoria, and I've been competing seriously for the last few years.
Born int cerebral palsy, I race in the T37 classification. I've set Australian records for the 800m and 1500m in both under 17 and under 20 categories, and I'm a national champion across track and cross country. I train 3-–4hrs most days because I genuinely enjoy it.
Year 12 at Brighton Grammar has been balanced with serious athletics. I won the Senior Legal Studies Prize and I've been leading diversity and inclusion work at school – making sure athletes with disabilities aren't just an afterthought in conversations about sport and participation.
Coaching little athletes since I was 16 has become a big part of who I am. I work with kids aged 8–12, including those with disabilities through Little Athletics. There's something about helping someone find their stride, literally and figuratively, that matters more than any personal time.
I'm an NDIS participant, which has been crucial in accessing support and services that help me train and compete at the level I do. I'm not shy about disability – it's woven into my story, not separate from it.
LA 2028 is the goal. I'm working towards Paralympic selection and focused on continuing to improve my times.
Beyond my own times, I want to expand what I'm doing with coaching. The more young athletes with disabilities I can work with, the better. Sport changed my life. I know it can do the same for others if they get the right support and space to grow.
School ends this year. What comes after involves balancing elite sport with whatever comes next – university, further training, or both. I haven't figured it all out yet, but I'm figuring it out on my terms.
